## History

In 1290 the lordship of Lusigny belonged to Guillaume de Montaigu, and it later passed to the Vienne family. In 1602 Jacques de Vienne handed it to Jean de Montet. In 1684 it went to Bernard de Royer, who built the present château around 1690. He drew on his brother's château at Saint-Micaud and on the staircase of the Château de Cormatin.

In 1748 Nicolas de Ganay became the owner. His son Guillaume Lazare de Ganay transformed the house, adding the dome over the staircase, redecorating the salons in 18th-century style, filling in the moats and redesigning the gardens. The Ganay family kept Lusigny until 1912. In 1932 it was bought by the de Varine-Bohan family, and since 2012 Cécilia de Varine has owned it.

## Architecture

The château is a classical house of the late 17th century. Its showpiece is the grand staircase, crowned by an 18th-century dome, classified as a historic monument in 1945. The salons keep their 18th-century decoration. Around the house, the English-style park lies between two arms of the Ouche, with a dovecote and an ornamental rockwork basin.
