The estate grew over the following centuries, with a square keep in the late Middle Ages and a large residence built around 1450 for Guy de Jaucourt. Moats, a drawbridge, crenellations and loopholes completed its defences. Further building campaigns followed in the 16th and 17th centuries, and the drawbridge dates from the 16th. The keep was classified as a historic monument in 1971. The estate, still private property, now combines a hotel and a farm. In 1994 the castle served as the setting for a French television version of the game Cluedo, broadcast on France 3. Today the hotel is rated five stars and makes a quiet base between Avallon, Vézelay and the Cure valley. ## Architecture The castle keeps the features of a small medieval stronghold: moats, a drawbridge of the 16th century, crenellations, loopholes and a covered walkway. Its keep is a square tower about 19 metres high and 10 metres wide, the part classified as a historic monument.
