# Festival du Chablisien

> Festival du Chablisien: Summer evening concerts in the churches and barns of the Chablis vineyard.

The Festival du Chablisien brings chamber music, jazz and folk to Chablis and the surrounding villages for a few evenings each July. Concerts move from church to tithe barn, so each evening is also a chance to discover a corner of the vineyard. Tickets are sold at the door.

## History

Mario Hacquard and Jean-Michel Costal founded the festival in 2004. It is run by the Association Culturelle du Pays Chablisien, with the growers of the Chablisien among its partners, and belongs to the Festival Musical des Grands Crus de Bourgogne. Only the 2020 season was cancelled, because of the pandemic.

The 22nd edition ran from 24 to 28 July 2026. It opened with free musical theatre in the Collégiale Saint-Martin in Chablis, then moved to a folk ball in the Grange aux Dîmes at Lichères-près-Aigremont, a string quintet in the church of Maligny and traditional jazz in the Grange de Beauvais at Venouse.

## What to expect

Expect intimate concerts in venues that are part of the attraction: the great Gothic collegiate church of Chablis, village churches and old stone barns among the fields. Programmes range from Mendelssohn and Dvořák to swing and dance music. Seating is unreserved.

## Tips for the day

In 2026 tickets cost 18 euros, or 45 euros for a pass to four concerts, and entry was free for under-18s. The box office opens at each venue 45 minutes before the concert, and the Chablis tourist office recommends booking. Chablis is about 1 hour 30 minutes from Beaune, so plan dinner in town before the concert and let your driver bring you back afterwards.

## Did you know?

In more than twenty editions, the festival has missed only one summer, in 2020.
