# Fleurs de Vigne

## History

The festival takes its name from the vine flowers that open in Burgundy at the end of May. They are tiny and easily missed, but they mark the birth of the future bunches, and the harvest traditionally follows about a hundred days later.

Fleurs de Vigne was first held in 2005 and is organised by the Auxerre tourist office with the Burgundy wine board. The 2026 edition was the 14th, and the festival now draws more than 20,000 visitors.

## What to expect

The Saturday offers guided visits in Auxerre and out in the vineyards, a sensory trail at the Abbaye Saint-Germain, wine buses and an evening event. On Sunday the stands line the quays below the old town, with Chablis, Irancy, Saint-Bris and the other appellations of the Yonne side by side, while food stalls sell local produce. Concerts, workshops and activities for children fill the rest of the day.

## Tips for the day

The Sunday tasting runs from 11 am to 6 pm. The tasting glass cost 6 euros in 2026 and can be bought in advance from the Auxerre tourist office. Auxerre is about 1 hour 45 minutes from Beaune; with a driver nobody has to drive, and you can still add a stop in Chablis or Saint-Bris on the way home.

## Did you know?

The festival is timed for the flowering of the vine, and growers reckon on about a hundred days from these flowers to the harvest.
