## History

La Chablisienne was founded on 1 May 1923 by a group of growers who joined forces in hard times, and its members now farm vines across the appellation, from Petit Chablis to grand cru. Its caveau on boulevard Pasteur, in the centre of Chablis, hosts the market: the 2023 edition fell on 9 and 10 December.

## What to expect

Browse the craft and food stalls, then choose bottles for Christmas from the cooperative's range, from a crisp Petit Chablis for the aperitif to a grand cru for the main course. It is a relaxed, local affair, easily combined with a walk through the town and lunch.

## Tips for the day

Dates are published by La Chablisienne and the Chablis tourist office in the autumn. The caveau is in the centre of Chablis, about 1 hour 30 minutes from Beaune, and a driver makes it easy to fill the boot with wine and presents and to add a stop at another cellar.

## Did you know?

La Chablisienne owns Château Grenouilles, a single block of 7.2 hectares in the grand cru of Grenouilles, facing the town.
