# Marché de Noël de Nolay

> Marché de Noël de Nolay: a village Christmas market under Nolay's medieval hall, ending with a lantern procession.

Nolay's Christmas market fills the town's medieval covered hall and the Place Cattin for one Saturday in mid-December. Local producers and craftspeople sell gifts and festive food, and at dusk children join a lantern procession through the town. In 2025 the market was open from 10:00 to 22:00.

## History

The market takes place under Les Halles de Nolay, a covered hall built at the end of the 14th century and roofed with heavy stone slabs, which served as the meeting place of the area's producers until the early 20th century.

## What to expect

Stalls offer local produce, crafts and gift ideas, with a bar and food. Children can have their photo taken with Father Christmas and join a floral workshop, and the descente aux lampions, a lantern procession, leaves from the upper school courtyard at 17:30.

## Tips for the day

Entry is free, and a hot drink has been offered to visitors on arrival. Nolay is about 18 km from Beaune by a winding road through the Hautes-Côtes, which can be icy on December evenings, so a driver is a comfortable way to stay for the procession.

## Did you know?

The hall that shelters the market dates from the end of the 14th century.
