## History

Saint Vincent's feast falls on 22 January, and wine villages across Burgundy honour him in the depths of winter. In Coulanges the celebration is a long-standing tradition, kept alive by the Comité de Saint-Vincent and by the village youth.

Coulanges-la-Vineuse lies a few kilometres west of Irancy, and its wines carry their own name, Bourgogne Coulanges-la-Vineuse.

## What to expect

The day opens with a mass at the church of Saint-Christophe at 9.30 am. At 11 am a parade winds through streets decorated for the feast, and the organisers hand out free mulled wine. From midday a reception in the village hall pairs tastings with cheese and charcuterie, and through the afternoon all the growers of the appellation pour their wines.

## Tips for the day

The celebrations are free to attend, and tastings are served in a commemorative glass, listed at 5 euros on the organisers' page. Dress for a cold January day. Coulanges is about 1 hour 40 minutes from Beaune, and a driver lets you enjoy the tastings and add a visit to Irancy or Saint-Bris.

## Did you know?

The feast is organised by the young people of the village, who have made it their task to keep the tradition alive.
