# Chablis and the Auxerrois from Beaune

> Three days in Beaune with a day in Chablis, about 1 h 30 north, by return trip or on a long wine day with Noyers-sur-Serein, from €930 per car for up to 4 guests.

- Length: 3 days
- Theme: Chablis and the Auxerrois
- Price: from €930 per car

Chablis is white only, from Chardonnay, and its seven grands crus share one slope across the Serein from the town, about 135 km from Beaune, almost all of it on the A6. The light plan drops you in Chablis for the day, with La Chablisienne's cellar, a domaine by appointment and lunch, and collects you in the late afternoon. The full plan makes it a long wine day with Noyers-sur-Serein on the way, after a half day in the Côte de Beaune for comparison.

## Good to know

- Many family domaines in Chablis close on Sundays; La Chablisienne's cellar in town opens every day.
- The Fête des Vins de Chablis fills the streets of the town on the weekend of the fourth Sunday in October.
- On the long day, ask for Irancy's reds or Saint-Bris Sauvignon instead of Noyers: the loop stays close to 300 km.

## Questions

### Who is this trip for?

White wine lovers who want to compare Chablis and the Côte de Beaune. Travellers who will not drive three hours there and back after tasting. Lovers of old stone villages: Noyers-sur-Serein is one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France.

### Does Chablis make red wine?

No. Chablis is white only, from Chardonnay. For red wine nearby, go to Irancy, and for Sauvignon, to Saint-Bris.

### How long is the Chablis day?

About 10 to 11 hours door to door: some 1 h 30 each way on the A6, two or three tastings, lunch and the grand cru slope, with Noyers-sur-Serein or another stop on the long wine day.

### Why stay in Beaune rather than in Chablis?

Because one day is enough for Chablis's grands crus, while the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits are on Beaune's doorstep for the rest of your stay, and the TGVs of Dijon-Ville are about 35 minutes away.
