## History

The Boursot story in Chambolle-Musigny goes back at least to 1550, when Guillaume Boursot was already a winegrower there. For a long time the family sold its whole harvest to the merchants of the region. In 1974 Jean-François Boursot and his wife Charlotte began to bottle their own wine and opened the first tasting cellar in Chambolle-Musigny.

Rémy Boursot took over in 1984, with 4 hectares of vines in Bourgogne, village Chambolle-Musigny and three Chambolle premiers crus. In 1993 he founded the wine house Boursot Père & Fils, which buys grapes from like-minded growers to widen the range, while the family harvests, ages and bottles every wine itself. His sons Romaric and Romuald, the fifteenth generation, joined in 2011 and 2012, one in charge of sales, the other of the vines and the cellar. The family farms without weedkillers and makes about 35,000 bottles a year, three quarters of them for export.

## What you will see

The Terroir tasting starts with the story of the family and of the Burgundy vineyard, then turns to the geological map of Chambolle-Musigny to explain what terroir means, before covering winemaking and ageing. You taste seven wines: two regional appellations, three villages, one premier cru and one grand cru. The range includes the Chambolle-Musigny premiers crus Les Fuées and Les Lavrottes, and a Clos de Vougeot.

## Planning your visit

The Terroir tasting costs €25 per person, lasts about 1 hour 30 minutes and is given in French or English to groups of 2 to 20. Book online in advance. The domaine is on rue de la Fontaine, in the centre of the village, and Chambolle-Musigny is a short drive from the Château du Clos de Vougeot.

In 1974 Jean-François Boursot stopped selling all his wine to merchants, began bottling it himself and opened the first tasting cellar in Chambolle-Musigny.
