## History

The Dufouleurs describe themselves as growers from father to son, rooted in Nuits-Saint-Georges since 1596. The domaine covers about 30 hectares. It is run by Yvan Dufouleur, Guy's eldest son, with his uncle Xavier Dufouleur as co-manager. In 2006 the family sold its merchant business to concentrate on the wines of its own vineyards.

The appellations run from the village of Fixin, at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits, to Santenay, at the southern end of the Côte de Beaune, by way of the Hautes-Côtes. They include the Corton grand cru Renardes, the Fixin premier cru Clos du Chapitre and Nuits-Saint-Georges premiers crus such as Clos des Perrières, Les Poulettes and Les Crots. The wines age for 12 to 15 months in oak, with 15 to 25 per cent new barrels depending on the vintage and the appellation.

## What you will see

The tasting cellar lies on rue Thurot, beside the wine road through the town. You can taste across the range, from the Bourgogne Aligoté and the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits to village Nuits-Saint-Georges from several climats, the premiers crus and the Corton grand cru, and buy the wines on the spot. The domaine also publishes a detailed technical sheet for each of its wines.

## Planning your visit

The cellar is open from Monday to Friday, and on Saturday and Sunday mornings from April to September. Exact hours are not published, so phone before you go. The domaine is in the town centre, a few minutes' walk from the belfry and the shops of Nuits-Saint-Georges.

## Did you know?

The Fixin premier cru Clos du Chapitre is a monopole: the whole vineyard belongs to the domaine.
