## History

The family says the estate may go back to 1540. Its recent history begins with Marie Bourgogne, who married Émile Claude Rebourgeon; their two sons, Henry and Michel, both became growers in Pommard, and Michel took over part of the estate in 1964. In 1995 Michel's daughter Delphine and her husband Stephen settled on the domaine, and with her brother they bought more vines in 1998 and 2004.

The family does most of the vineyard work itself. It uses no herbicides and ploughs the soil, partly with a horse; on the premier cru plots all the work is by hand, ploughing is by horse only and treatments are carried on the back. The grapes are destemmed, sorted berry by berry, given about a week of cold soaking, and the wine runs down by gravity into barrels for 12 to 18 months.

## What you will see

In the caveau you can taste the range, from regional Bourgogne to Pommard premiers crus such as Les Rugiens, Les Arvelets, Les Charmots and Les Pézerolles, Volnay premiers crus Les Brouillards and La Carelle sous la Chapelle, and Beaune premier cru Les Chouacheux. A small négociant range completes the estate's own wines.

## Planning your visit

Allow 30 minutes to an hour. The caveau is open every day, preferably by appointment, and the family posts its current hours on its Google listing. It is on the place de l'Europe, in the centre of Pommard, a few steps from the Château de Pommard.

## Did you know?

On one young premier cru plot the family grows vines en échalas: each vine tied to its own stake, closely planted and without wires, the old Burgundian way, so that all the work is done by hand.
