## Dijon to Beaune: train, car or private transfer?

| Option | Time | Cost | Door to door? | Luggage | Works best for |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| TER from Dijon-Ville | 18 to 30 minutes, 43 trains a day from 5:42 to 22:12 | €13 per person at the full fare, about half that under 26 | No: Beaune station is about 1 km from the old town, and a taxi is not always waiting | No size limit on the TER, but you carry everything | Light bags and a hotel within walking distance of the station |
| Driving yourself | About 35 min, 45 km on the A31 | Toll about €3, plus fuel or charging and the hire | Yes, but you drive after your journey and park in Beaune | Whatever fits in the boot | Travellers who keep a car for the whole stay |
| Private transfer, Côte Privée | About 35 min, door to door | €120 per car for 1 to 4 guests, tolls included: about €30 each for 4 | Yes: met with a name board, dropped at your door in Beaune | Your driver helps with every bag; say how many you bring when you book | Three or four guests, heavy bags or cases of wine, an evening TGV |

Why €120 when the TER costs €13 a ticket? Because the train stops at Beaune station, about 1 km from the old town, and a taxi is not guaranteed there: Beaune has only a few taxi companies, often out on bookings in the evening and on Sundays. Your driver meets your TGV at Dijon-Ville, carries the bags and drives you to your door in Beaune in about 35 min; for four guests that is about €30 each, against €52 in train tickets before the last kilometre. Hotels in the wine villages have no station at all: the price to a village depends on the distance and shows when you book.

Train times and fares from SNCF Connect, TER Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Rhônexpress and Genève Aéroport, checked on 1 October 2026; tolls from APRR’s 2026 tariffs. Fares change with the date, so check yours before you travel.
