About the event
Each January the Confrérie des Quatre Coteaux du Vézelien honours Saint Vincent, patron saint of wine growers, in the villages below the hill of Vézelay. The day brings together a mass, a procession, a tasting of Vézelay wines and a banquet that runs well into the evening.
What to expect
This is a village celebration rather than a large festival. Growers and members of the brotherhood lead the procession, mulled wine is served after mass, and the tasting is a chance to meet the producers of the Vézelay appellation. The banquet is the great social moment of the local wine year.
History
The brotherhood exists to promote the wines of the Vézelien, and above all the Vézelay appellation, shared by four communes: Vézelay, Saint-Père, Asquins and Tharoiseau. Besides the Saint-Vincent, it also organises the Paulée du Vézelien in October.
The 2026 feast, on 17 January, began with mass in the morning, followed by mulled wine, a procession through the village and a tasting of Vézelay wines at the château of Tharoiseau, before a banquet at Montillot.

Tips for the day
In 2026 the full day, including the banquet, cost 51 euros, plus 6 euros for the tasting glass, and had to be booked by early January. Dress for a cold day on foot. The villages of the Vézelien are about 1 hour 30 minutes from Beaune, and a driver means the banquet can last as long as it likes.
