About the event
Every January the small wine village of Chitry, south-east of Auxerre, holds its own Saint-Vincent. Growers parade through the streets with their brotherhood and a brass band, mulled wine is served to everyone, and on the Sunday the village's wines are open for tasting.
What to expect
In recent editions the Saturday has begun in the late afternoon with the parade of growers and the procession of Saint Vincent, led by the Confrérie des Trois Ceps and a brass band from Chablis, followed by mass and mulled wine for all. On the Sunday afternoon visitors can taste Aligoté and the white and red Chitry wines with the growers.
History
The feast has been held for decades: the 2018 edition was the 34th. It was interrupted by the pandemic, returned in 2023 and was celebrated again in 2025.
Chitry has had its own appellation, Bourgogne Chitry, since 1993. The vineyard covers about 80 hectares, split between Chardonnay for the whites and Pinot Noir for the reds and rosés, and the village is also known for its Aligoté.

Tips for the day
The dates are announced locally a few weeks ahead, usually on the growers' social media page, Bourgogne Chitry. Streets in the centre close during the parade. Chitry is about 1 hour 35 minutes from Beaune, and being driven means you can enjoy the mulled wine and the tastings without a thought for the road home.
