About the place
Domaine Isabelle Lippe is a small estate in Brochon, a village on the Route des Grands Crus between Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin. Claudine and Isabelle, both winegrowers, receive visitors in their cellar to taste the wines they grow and pick by hand. Their range runs from Bourgogne to village Marsannay and Gevrey-Chambertin.
What you will see
The usual visit is a commented tasting of four Burgundy wines with one of the winegrowers, who talks about the vines, the cellar and the work of the year. It lasts about 45 minutes and costs €15 per person. Depending on what is available, the wines may include the Bourgogne Pinot Noir Moutier, the Marsannay Les Etales, the Côte de Nuits-Villages and the Gevrey-Chambertin Les Evocelles, and bottles can be bought afterwards.
History
The Lippe family has grown vines around Gevrey-Chambertin since 1820. Rather than wait for an inheritance, Isabelle set up her own domaine in 2004, with a single rented hectare of vines and rented premises, after training in viticulture in Beaune. In 2007 she had to leave those premises and bought the house with its cellar and vat house in Brochon, where the domaine still works today.
Plot by plot, the estate has grown: Côte de Nuits-Villages vines in 2010 and 2013, new plantings in Gevrey-Chambertin in 2019, a plot in Fixin in 2021 and vines in Les Evocelles, in Gevrey-Chambertin, in 2022. Claudine has worked alongside Isabelle from the start. The harvest is always picked by hand, with the sorting done in the vineyard.
Planning your visit
Tips for your visit
Visits are by appointment. The domaine asks visitors to phone a few days ahead, especially for a Sunday, and the tasting cellar mainly opens from April to September, outside the harvest. The tasting does not include a tour of the vineyard, which is offered separately. The cellar can receive groups of up to 20 people.
