Day by day

Beaune is about 3 h 15 from central Paris by road, or about 1 h 35 by TGV to Dijon-Ville and 35 minutes on with your driver. The light weekend gives the first afternoon to the old town and the Hôtel-Dieu, adds a dinner at a starred table in Pommard and a morning tasting in Meursault the next day. The full weekend starts with a full wine day straight from the motorway or the train, and ends with a half day at houses that receive visitors on Sundays.

Good to know

  • Start on a Saturday: family domaines are open, and on the Sunday the big houses that open every day take over.
  • Book the starred table and the domaines when you book the car: Beaune is busiest from May to mid-October.
  • With heavy luggage or four guests, the car from your door is the simplest; one or two people travelling light do better with the TGV to Dijon.

Travellers in Paris with two days to spare. Couples who want one great dinner and one good tasting rather than a busy schedule (light). Wine lovers who want as many tastings as two days allow (full). Pilots and helicopter guests from the Paris region, who land 5 km from Beaune (the Beaune-Challanges plans).
