Each year over the Ascension weekend, Saulieu hosts the Journées gourmandes du Grand Morvan et des Pays de Bourgogne. The fair brings together the flavours of the Morvan and Burgundy, with cooking demonstrations and competitions for cooks and for dining-room staff.

What to expect

Stroll through a fair of Morvan and Burgundian specialities, watch chefs at work in live demonstrations and follow the cooking and table-service competitions. It is a good weekend to stock up on local produce and to book a table at one of the town's restaurants.

History

Saulieu stands on the old road from Paris to Lyon, and its Côte d'Or restaurant was made famous by Alexandre Dumaine and later by Bernard Loiseau. The town's museum devotes a room to them, and the gourmet weekend carries on that reputation.

The 2025 edition ran from Thursday 29 May to Sunday 1 June, from 10 am to 6 pm each day.
