About the event
The Tournuscimes is a mass walk, ride and mountain-bike outing through the hills and vineyards between Tournus and the Mâconnais, starting from Chardonnay. Routes of different lengths suit families and seasoned walkers alike, and the refreshment stops are famously generous.
What to expect
Walkers, cyclists and riders set off from Chardonnay on waymarked circuits through vineyards and woods at the height of the autumn colours. Stops along the way hand out bread, charcuterie, fruit, cake and glasses of local white wine.
History
The Club Alpin of Tournus organised the first Tournus-Cimes on 6 June 1982 with about fifty participants. It moved to Chardonnay and to the third Sunday of October in 1984, adding mountain bikers, and riders on horseback followed in 1991.
The 2026 outing is the 43rd edition.

Tips for the day
Registration is through the organiser's website, tournuscimes.fr, linked from the Tournus tourist office page. Start times are early, so a pick-up from Beaune in the morning and a collection at the finish avoids a long day at the wheel. Bring layers: mornings in the hills can be cold in October.
