About the event

Every October, Nuits-Saint-Georges celebrates the first drops of the new vintage under its market halls. Visitors taste vin bourru, the young wine still fermenting as it comes from the press, and browse a market of regional produce, with a guest region invited each year.

What to expect

Buy the festival glass, taste freshly pressed juice and the year's bourru, and wander a market of about thirty stalls selling wine, cheese, foie gras, snails and pastries. Upstairs, local artists show their work, and a brass band from the guest region plays on the Saturday.

History

The fête is organised by the association La Cabotte with the support of the town. Its 37th edition in 2025 opened the newly renovated Halles and invited the Morvan regional nature park. The 38th edition, on 17 and 18 October 2026, welcomes the wines of Bugey as guest of honour.

Tips for the day

Entry is free and the tasting glass costs 5 euros. The halls, on rue Thurot in the town centre, are open from 10 am to 7 pm on Saturday and from 10 am to 6 pm on Sunday. Nuits-Saint-Georges is about 20 minutes north of Beaune by the D974 and has a station on the line between Dijon and Beaune. Parking near the halls fills up quickly that weekend, so a private driver who drops you at the door and waits is the easy option, and everyone in the group can taste the bourru.

Questions

Fête du Vin Bourru 2026 takes place in Nuits-Saint-Georges: Saturday 17 – Sunday 18 October 2026.

Did you know? Vin bourru keeps for only a few days, as its yeasts go on turning sugar into alcohol, so it cannot travel in closed bottles.
