About the event

Every Easter weekend, the growers of Monthelie, on the slopes above Meursault, open their cellars for the Printemps de Monthelie. Visitors buy a glass and taste the village's red and white wines as they wander its narrow lanes. The 2026 edition is the 21st; check the organiser's page for the dates of the next.

What to expect

Growers pour their white and red Monthelie in their cellars, and musicians and entertainment fill the cellars and streets. Food is served in the salle des fêtes, horse-drawn carriage rides are free, and there are craft stalls, activities for children and a raffle with bottles to win.

History

The Printemps de Monthelie was first held in 2004 and has returned every spring since, with the 20th edition in 2025. Monthelie is a small village of winding medieval lanes, old houses and a wash house, with an 18th-century château that is home to the Domaine de Suremain.

Good to know

Tips for the day

Glasses and practical information are available at the town hall in the centre of the village. Easter weekend is busy across the Côte de Beaune, and the Maranges villages have recently held their own open cellars on the same weekend, so book hotels early. Monthelie's lanes are narrow and parking is limited; with a driver you can combine it with Meursault or Auxey-Duresses and taste without worrying about the drive back.
