About the event
Every year on the last weekend of January, one Burgundy wine village, or a small group of villages, hosts the Saint-Vincent Tournante. Growers' societies parade with statues of Saint Vincent, patron of wine growers, and cellars open for tastings. The 2027 edition goes to Volnay and, for the first time in the festival's history, visitors must register in advance.
What to expect
The day begins early with a procession of growers' societies and brass bands, carrying their statues of Saint Vincent through the streets. A mass follows, then long-serving growers are honoured. Visitors buy a tasting kit with a glass, a map and tickets, then move between the cellars opened for the occasion. In Volnay, 47 producers are taking part, nine special cuvées are planned, and three banquets are held on 22, 29 and 30 January 2027.
History
Saint Vincent has long been honoured by the mutual aid societies of Burgundy's wine villages, which supported growers through illness, bad weather and hard years. The Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin revived these local feasts and united them in a single rotating festival. The first Saint-Vincent Tournante took place on 22 January 1938. Since then it has moved from village to village.
The 82nd edition, in January 2026, was shared by the three Maranges villages, and organisers expected about 60,000 visitors. In 2027 the festival moves to Volnay, which hosted it in 1957 and 1986, in the year the Volnay appellation turns 90. The 2028 edition is planned for Nuits-Saint-Georges and Premeaux-Prissey.

Tips for the day
For 2027, entry to the village is reserved for holders of an adult or child kit bought in advance. Kits go on sale online only, on the official website, from 18 November 2026, and none are sold on the day. Volnay has only about 240 inhabitants, so expect crowds, narrow lanes and winter weather, and wear warm, waterproof shoes. The village lies about 10 minutes south of Beaune by the D974, and parking will be very scarce: being dropped at the edge of the village by your driver and collected later saves a long search, and nobody in your group has to drive. Book accommodation in Beaune early.
