About the event
The Fêtes de la Vigne fill Dijon with folk dancers and musicians from around the world for a week, alongside Burgundian groups and wine tastings. Shows take place in the Jardin Darcy and on the city's squares, and the festival traditionally ends with a parade on rue de la Liberté.
What to expect
Watch dance groups in full costume on the main stage in the Jardin Darcy and on Place François Rude, taste Climats wines by the Bareuzai fountain, and see the parade of international groups through the pedestrian centre.
History
The festival was created in 1946 at the request of Canon Kir, then mayor of Dijon, to lift spirits after the war. In the 1950s it became one of Europe's leading international folk festivals, known for its gold, silver and bronze collars awarded to groups. Since 2015 the association Trad'Culture has run it.
The 80th anniversary edition took place from 7 to 12 July 2026, with ensembles from France and abroad, including groups from Serbia and Uruguay who joined the Société Philharmonique de Dijon for a concert in the courtyard of the Palais des Ducs. The organisers are working to have the festival recognised on France's national inventory of intangible cultural heritage.
