For a simple lunch in Beaune, Soul Kitchen and La Table du Square, a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand, cook from the market at moderate prices; for a bistro dinner, Ma Cuisine, Garum and Loiseau des Vignes pair Burgundy dishes with long wine lists; for a glass, L'Arche des Vins and La Maison du Colombier pour from lists of thousands of bottles. Sunday is the hard day: of the thirteen places in this guide, only L'Alentour, L'Expression and the wine bar of the Cité des Climats open. Book dinner ahead, directly with the restaurant.

In short

  • Lunch runs from 12.00 to about 13.30 or 14.00 and dinner from about 19.00 to 21.30; in between, Garum in high season and the Cité's wine bar, until 18.00, still serve.
  • Sunday is the hard day: ten of the thirteen places in this guide close, while L'Alentour and L'Expression serve lunch and dinner on Sundays and Mondays.
  • Service is included in French menu prices and a tip is optional. In the MICHELIN Guide, € means under €35 for a meal without drinks, €€ €35 to €60, €€€ €60 to €100.
  • Book your table yourself, online or by phone; for dinner in a wine village, a return trip with a driver who waits costs €110 per car to Pommard.

How does eating out in Beaune work?

Lunch is served from 12.00 to about 13.30 or 14.00 and dinner from about 19.00 to 21.30, and few kitchens take orders in between: end the morning's visits by 12.30. If you are late, Garum serves without a break from 11.00 to midnight in high season, and the wine bar of the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne pours wine with platters until 18.00. Ma Cuisine opens for dinner at 17.45, the wine bars at 18.00.

Book ahead, for dinner above all. Each restaurant takes its own bookings, on its website or by phone: you book the table yourself, and if a driver takes you, we book the car, not the table. On the weekend of the Hospices de Beaune wine sale, 13 to 15 November 2026, book as soon as your dates are set, as the town is full.

Mind the closing days. Sunday is the hard day: ten of the thirteen places in this guide close on Sundays and four on Mondays, while the gastronomic tables often close on Tuesdays and Wednesdays instead. Several change their days with the seasons.

Service is included: since an order of 27 March 1987, prices in French restaurants are shown service compris, and a tip is up to you, left when you liked the service.

The price levels below are those the sources give: the MICHELIN Guide's symbols, which stand for the average price of a meal without drinks (€ under €35, €€ €35 to €60, €€€ €60 to €100, €€€€ over €100), or the set menus a restaurant publishes. Hours and prices were checked on 28 October 2026 on the restaurants' websites, the MICHELIN Guide and the Beaune tourist office's listings; confirm them when you book.

Which Beaune restaurants and wine bars suit which occasion?

Thirteen places, grouped by the moment they suit rather than ranked; the MICHELIN Guide or the Beaune tourist office lists each of them. All but the Cité's bar are in the old town or just outside it, within walking distance of each other.

Where can you have a simple lunch in Beaune?

At a set menu between two visits: Soul Kitchen on weekdays, La Table du Square and Le Bistrot Bourguignon on most days from Tuesday to Saturday; or, for a light plate with a view of the vines, the wine bar at the top of the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne.

  • Soul Kitchen, rue Rousseau-Deslandes: the chef runs the small room alone and cooks with local producers, a short menu from the market and a permanent set menu of tarte à l'Époisses, bœuf bourguignon and a cassis dessert, for €34. Homely and unhurried, for a weekday lunch or dinner; € in the MICHELIN Guide, closed at weekends.
  • La Table du Square, boulevard du Maréchal-Foch, on the ring round the old town: a Bib Gourmand, the MICHELIN Guide's mark for good food at good value, with a single set menu from the market that changes every three weeks and a cellar of more than 1,000 wines. Lunch costs €27 to €33, dinner €37, and €40 from Friday evening to Saturday evening. For a good-value lunch between two cellars; closed on Sundays, Mondays and at Thursday lunchtime.
  • Le Bistrot Bourguignon, rue Monge: a bistro and wine bar on a pedestrian street, with home-made dishes, two short set menus, more than 500 wines and a terrace in fine weather. For a relaxed lunch in the centre, from Tuesday to Saturday, dinner too; prices are not published, so ask when you book.
  • Bar Les Accords, on the fourth floor of the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne: Burgundy wines by the glass or the bottle, with platters of charcuterie, cheese and regional preserves and a view over the vineyard slope, every day from 10.00 to 18.00. For a light lunch after the Cité's tour, or a glass in the late afternoon.

Which bistros suit a dinner of Burgundy dishes and wine?

Four bistros of the old town, each with a long wine list; the MICHELIN Guide rates them all €€€ but Garum, €€.

  • Ma Cuisine, down a cobbled passage two minutes from Place Carnot: a bistro opened in 1996 and run today by the son of the house, in a vaulted room of wood and red leather, with classics to share, whole guinea fowl or lamb in a casserole, simple desserts and a wine list the MICHELIN Guide calls a knockout, poured in fine glasses. For wine lovers who like a lively room. Dinner from Monday to Friday from 17.45, lunch on Friday; the MICHELIN Guide lists it as closed at weekends while its own site mentions Saturday dinners, so ask when you book.
  • Garum, rue de l'Hôtel-Dieu: a wood-panelled bistro where the chef makes his own charcuterie and serves oysters, dishes to share and slow-cooked mains; it is named after the Romans' fermented sauce, which seasons its beef tartare. Relaxed, and the one for a late or unplanned meal: in high season it serves without a break from 11.00 to midnight. Closed on Sundays, and on Mondays in winter.
  • Loiseau des Vignes, rue Maufoux: the chic bistro of the Bernard Loiseau house, in stone and wood with velvet banquettes, for eggs in red wine sauce, pâté en croûte or Charolais beef cheek, with a wide choice of wines by the glass: the one to choose if each guest wants to taste something different. Closed on Sundays and Mondays.
  • Le Bistro de l'Hôtel, rue Samuel-Legay: the elegant bistro of L'Hôtel de Beaune, known for its roast Bresse chicken and a wine list the MICHELIN Guide calls quite simply impressive. Dinner only, from Monday to Saturday.

Where can you drink Burgundy by the glass in a wine bar?

In the evening, at L'Arche des Vins or La Maison du Colombier, both with thousands of wines and a choice by the glass; for a meal built around the wine, at Caves Madeleine; by day, at the Cité's bar above.

  • L'Arche des Vins, rue Poterne: a wine bar with its own wine shop, more than 3,000 wines from Burgundy, France and further afield, wines and spirits by the glass that change often, tapas of local produce, a seasonal menu and a terrace in summer. For curious drinkers who want to explore. From 18.00, Tuesday to Saturday, and at lunch on Saturday.
  • La Maison du Colombier, rue Charles-Cloutier, by the Collégiale Notre-Dame: a gastro-bar where an aperitif of toasts and Iberian ham can turn into dinner from a short menu, with more than 4,000 wines and five reds, five whites and three champagnes by the glass. From 18.00, Monday to Friday.
  • Caves Madeleine, rue du Faubourg-Madeleine, just outside the old town: a wine bar and restaurant that cooks with local producers and pours from more than 500 wines chosen to show today's Burgundy, with a terrace under a fig tree; more a meal than a glass, €€ in the MICHELIN Guide. Lunch and dinner on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, lunch only on Tuesdays.

Which restaurants in Beaune open on Sunday or Monday?

On Sunday, in town: L'Alentour and L'Expression for lunch and dinner, Bar Les Accords by day, and Clos du Cèdre, one of the two starred tables, for lunch and dinner. On Monday, more open: L'Alentour, L'Expression, Soul Kitchen and Caves Madeleine for lunch and dinner, Ma Cuisine and Le Bistro de l'Hôtel for dinner, La Maison du Colombier from 18.00, and Garum in high season.

Our guide to wine tasting on a Sunday or a Monday adds the cellars and châteaux open on those days.

  • L'Alentour, rue d'Alsace: a cosmopolitan bistro run by three partners, two of them chefs, with a short menu of bold dishes to share; €€. Lunch and dinner every day from May to October; from November to April it closes on Wednesdays and Thursdays and stays open on Sundays and Mondays.
  • L'Expression, rue Maufoux: modern cooking over charcoal and in a wood-fired oven, much of it to share, in two stylish rooms around an open kitchen, with a carefully chosen wine list; €€€. Lunch and dinner on Sundays and Mondays; closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
  • In the villages: the Bib Gourmand L'Ouillette in Santenay serves lunch and dinner on Sundays and Mondays, Bistrot Lucien in Gevrey-Chambertin lunch on Sundays, and Table de Levernois and Le Charlemagne in Pernand-Vergelesses dinner on Mondays.

Where are Beaune’s MICHELIN-starred restaurants?

Two in town, each with one star: Le Carmin, closed on Sundays, Mondays and at Tuesday lunchtime, and Clos du Cèdre, open for dinner from Wednesday to Sunday and for lunch at weekends. Around Beaune, Table de Levernois in Levernois, Auprès du Clocher in Pommard, Le Charlemagne in Pernand-Vergelesses and Ed.Em in Chassagne-Montrachet hold one star each, and Maison Lameloise in Chagny three.

Most are €€€€ in the MICHELIN Guide, over €100 for a meal without drinks, and Ed.Em €€€. Each has its own page on our site, with its cooking and the price of a return trip with a driver: see the MICHELIN-starred restaurants of Burgundy.

How do you get to dinner in a wine village and back?

With a driver who waits, so that nobody in your party drives after the wine. Book a return trip: the driver takes you to the restaurant, waits nearby for up to 3 hours and drives you back to your hotel, at a fixed price per car for up to four guests. If dinner may last longer, the driver comes back for you later instead, at the price of two one-way rides: €120 for Pommard. For an aperitif in a Beaune wine bar before dinner in a village, the driver by the hour costs €75 an hour, with a 3-hour minimum.

Book your table first, directly with the restaurant, then the car for the same evening. From Beaune, the return trip to five village tables:

  • Pommard, 8 minutes: Auprès du Clocher, one MICHELIN star; €110 return.
  • Pernand-Vergelesses, 11 minutes: Le Charlemagne, one star; €120.
  • Chassagne-Montrachet, 20 minutes: Ed.Em, one star; €155.
  • Santenay, 23 minutes: L'Ouillette, a Bib Gourmand inn on the village square, between coq au vin and more modern dishes, closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; €165.
  • Gevrey-Chambertin, 32 minutes: Bistrot Lucien, a Bib Gourmand bistro of Burgundy classics at La Rôtisserie du Chambertin, home of the starred La Table d'Hôte, closed on Mondays and Sunday evenings; €210.

Questions

For dinner, yes: each restaurant takes its own bookings, on its website or by phone. Lunch on a weekday is easier, but a set-menu bistro such as La Table du Square is safer booked too. On the weekend of the Hospices de Beaune wine sale, in mid-November, book as soon as your dates are set. You book the table; if a driver takes you, we book the car, not the table.
