About the event
Each November Mâcon becomes a small capital of singing. The Symphonies d'Automne combine concerts and choirs with an International Lyric Singing Competition whose finalists perform with the Orchestre Symphonique de Mâcon at the Théâtre de Mâcon.
What to expect
The quarter-finals, semi-final and grand final of the singing competition are open to the public, so visitors can follow young singers from around the world as they progress. Around them are films, family shows, choral concerts and recitals.
History
The association Mâcon Symphonies created the festival in 1993, and it has grown over more than thirty years into a fixture of the town's cultural year. Each edition has a theme; the 33rd, in 2026, looks to Australia, after the far North in 2025.

Tips for the day
Check the programme for competition sessions and ticketed concerts. November evenings are dark and often wet, and Mâcon is about an hour from Beaune, so being driven to the theatre and back is a comfortable way to spend an evening at the final.
