About the event

The Vélo Gourmande is a ride of about 30 kilometres through the vineyards of the southern Mâconnais, broken up by food stops and wine tastings. The route changes each year, from village squares to château terraces and cellars.

What to expect

Riders follow one of two waymarked circuits at their own pace, stopping to eat dishes from local chefs and producers and to taste the wines of the growers they meet on the way. It is a leisurely day rather than a race, and suits any level.

History

The ride reached its eighth edition in 2026. That year the circuits started from Chaintré and crossed the border into the northern Beaujolais crus via Saint-Amour-Bellevue and Chénas; in 2025 they left from the Château d'Aine at Azé.

Tips for the day

Places are booked in advance online. The start moves each year, often an hour or more from Beaune; a driver can take you and your bicycles to the start and collect you at the end, when nobody will want to drive.
