About the event
Lumières à Beaune is a free evening trail of light shows in the old town. Monumental projections lasting three to five minutes tell the history of Beaune on its landmarks, including the Hôtel-Dieu and the Collégiale Notre-Dame. The winter season runs every evening from mid-November to early January.
What to expect
A route links the sites, marked by more than 150 lights whose colours change with the seasons, and some 30 monuments and bastions of the ramparts are illuminated. Visitors simply stroll from one projection to the next at their own pace after dark.
History
The projections draw on the history and heritage of the town. They light up the Collégiale Notre-Dame, the Hôtel-Dieu, the Chapelle Saint-Étienne, the Beffroi, the Porte Marie de Bourgogne and the Rempart des Dames, twice a year: in summer, from 21 June to 20 September, and again from the Vente des Vins to early January.
