About the event
The Fête des Grands Vins de Bourgogne gathers all 84 Burgundy appellations, from Chablis to the Mâconnais, under one roof at the Palais des Congrès in Beaune. Held on the Friday and Saturday of the Vente des Vins weekend, it offers around 3,000 wines to taste in a single visit. The 2026 edition is the 153rd.
What to expect
Fifteen circular tasting stands are spread around the Palais des Congrès, each signposted with the appellations it pours. You simply ask a grower for the appellation, climat or vintage you want to try, or let them guide you. Spittoons are provided, light food such as gougères and charcuterie boards is sold on site, and on the Saturday the École des Vins de Bourgogne runs short tasting workshops. On the Saturday evening a paulée dinner closes the event, and every guest brings a bottle to share.
History
The event began at the end of the 19th century as the Exposition Générale des Vins de Bourgogne. Growers used the Hospices de Beaune auction, which brought the merchants to town, to present every Burgundy appellation and the new vintage to the trade. It later opened to the public and, in 2008, took its present name.
It is organised by the CAVB, the confederation of Burgundy's appellations and growers. The principle has not changed: estates, cooperatives and wine houses donate the bottles, and growers and their staff pour them as volunteers. No wine is sold, as the aim is to show the whole of Burgundy.

Tips for the day
Tickets are sold online for one day or the whole weekend; in 2025 a day pass cost 28 euros. The Friday morning is reserved for professionals and the public is admitted from 14:00, while on Saturday the doors open from 9:00 to 19:00, with last entry at 18:00. The paulée dinner sells out early and was already full for 2026. The Palais des Congrès is on the southern edge of Beaune, near the Cité des Climats, and with 3,000 wines on offer this is a day to be driven rather than to drive.
