About the event

Vélotour is a light-hearted ride of 15 to 25 kilometres that takes thousands of cyclists through places usually closed to bikes. The idea was born in Dijon, and the city hosts it each September on a route that changes every year.

What to expect

Ride at your own pace, alone or with family, on a route that changes every year and crosses around ten unusual sites opened specially for the day. It is a leisurely ride rather than a race.

History

Vélotour was created in Dijon twenty years ago and has since spread to other French cities. The 2026 edition, on Sunday 13 September, celebrated its 20th anniversary and was the 19th held in Dijon, with about 5,000 riders expected and a start and finish village in the park of the Château de Pouilly.

Tips for the day

Tickets are sold online from the spring and prices rise as slots fill; in 2026 adult places started at 13 euros. Plan the rest of the day around a lunch in town or a drive down the Côte, where a private driver can take over once the bikes are put away.
