About the event

For one Sunday in October, the Route des Grands Crus between Dijon and Vougeot is closed to traffic and handed over to runners and skaters. The Marathon des Grands Crus offers a full marathon, a half marathon starting in Chambolle-Musigny, a 10 km and a 23 km roller race.

What to expect

Runners start and finish on the Cours du Général de Gaulle in Dijon, except for the half marathon, which leaves from Chambolle-Musigny by shuttle. Along the route, villages put on music and refreshment stops with Burgundy produce. Skaters take over the road in the afternoon for their own race and a roller ride.

History

The event is organised by AM Sports, a Dijon roller club, and holds its 7th edition on 11 October 2026, with up to 8,000 participants expected after about 7,000 in 2025. The course crosses Dijon, Chenôve, Marsannay-la-Côte, Couchey, Fixin, Brochon, Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny and Vougeot.

Tips for the day

Entries open in winter and the half marathon has sold out months ahead. The Route des Grands Crus is closed for most of the day, so plan tastings in villages off the course or after the roads reopen. A private driver who knows the closures can bring supporters to the finish and runners home afterwards.
