About the event
Each spring the Festival Beethoven à Beaune invites international musicians to perform Beethoven's music in Beaune, under the artistic direction of the Korean cellist Sung-Won Yang. The 2027 edition is built around the idea of a testament, two hundred years after the composer's death.
What to expect
The 2027 programme opens with solo piano, continues with piano trios from the youthful Opus 1 to the Archduke Trio, then turns to string quartets, including the Serioso and the late Opus 135, and closes with Liszt's transcription of the Ninth Symphony for two pianos.
History
The South Korean cellist Sung-Won Yang directs the festival and invites soloists and ensembles from around the world. Concerts take place in some of Beaune's landmark venues, such as the Hôtel-Dieu and La Lanterne Magique. The 2026 edition was held from 23 to 26 April.

Tips for the day
Tickets are sold online. Early April is a quiet, pleasant time in Beaune, with fewer visitors than in summer. Most concerts are held in the evening in the centre of town, so a driver can take you to dinner in a nearby village and bring you back in time.
