What you will see
The visit starts in the vat house, where the wines of the Côte de Nuits are fermented, then goes a few steps down into the vaulted cellar of the 19th century, to follow the wine from the arrival of the grapes to its ageing in barrel. An expert then leads the tasting: three wines in the Découverte, five in the Terroirs, with a regional wine, two villages and two premiers crus, or six in the Prestige, which adds a grand cru.
History
Moillard is a Burgundy wine house that has made wines and Crémants de Bourgogne since 1850, and this cellar in Nuits-Saint-Georges is where the house was born. Like most merchant houses, it buys grapes from partner growers it has worked with for many years, and its team of oenologists makes and ages the wines. The house also runs a cellar in Meursault and a shop on Place de la Halle in Beaune, opposite the Hôtel-Dieu.
The range covers Burgundy from Chablis to the Côte de Beaune, from regional wines and Crémants to premiers and grands crus. Moillard also offers a selection of wines from the charity auctions of the Hospices de Beaune and the Hospices de Nuits.
