About the place

Maison Louis Jadot is one of the large wine houses of Beaune, both a grower and a négociant, and its pale yellow label with the head of Bacchus is sold in more than 120 countries. Visitors are received at its winery on the route de Savigny, on the northern edge of town. The shop there is open for tastings and purchases, and guided visits of the vat room and cellars are arranged by appointment.

What you will see

The winery stands on the route de Savigny, among working buildings rather than in the old town. In its shop you can taste a selection of the house's wines and buy them. Guided visits lead through the vat room and the ageing cellars before a tasting, and the house runs special tastings through the year: during the Hospices de Beaune wine sale weekend in November 2026, for example, a cellar visit with ten wines, from the vintage in barrel to a Hospices cuvée and some classics, costs €60.

History

The Jadot family bought a plot of the Beaune premier cru Clos des Ursules in 1826, and in 1859 Louis Henry Denis Jadot founded the house that bears his name. The following generations built up a trade in northern Europe, then in Britain and the United States. In 1985 Madame Jadot sold the house to the Kopf family, whose company had imported its wines into the United States since 1945.

The house oversees every stage itself, from the vineyard to the bottle. It set up its own cooperage in 1996, and its vineyards have been certified organic since the 2024 vintage. Beyond the Côte-d'Or, it has bought the Château des Jacques in Moulin-à-Vent, in Beaujolais, the Domaine Ferret in Fuissé and the Maison Louis Picamelot.
